ROSALIND DAWES – CHAKRA DANCE

Celebrating summer, moving outwards into the world, creating, acting, blossoming and bearing fruit. The seeds planted in the winter sprout and grow creating new forms in our lives and warmth stimulates growth developing and nurturing existing forms to expand and evolve.

This dance celebrates the rise of life from the root to the crown – the liberating flow of life force that takes us on a journey from physicality, through feeling, thought, relating, expression, imagination and connection to a larger whole. Dancing from our deeper self we build a bridge between our inner world and the outer life – strengthening that connection through the Jungian technique of mandala art.

SID MADGE/MEEE – PUBLIC SPEAKER

A brand strategist with over 30 years’ experience, Sid Madge has channelled his expertise into founding the Meee Programme – an initiative to help people believe in who they are.

With a background working with some of the world’s largest brands, Sid’s never been afraid of a challenge. In 2009 he set himself his biggest one yet: relocating to a remote corner of North Wales to build his own branding agency, in the middle of nowhere, knowing no one.

Since then, Sid has crafted brand identities for businesses across the UK and everywhere from France to the USA. He also holds talks and workshops with over 1,000 businesses and 3,000 young people every year.

The Meee Programme was inspired by a workshop with a local school. Sid asked pupils to pick one word to describe themselves and was horrified that 15% used terms like ‘freak, ‘weirdo’ and ‘misfit’. These words would come up time and again – not just with students, but with adults of all ages. It seemed we could do with a collective confidence boost – something Sid knew he could help with.

Over the past 18 months, Sid’s been creating tools to help young people feel more confident in themselves. Bringing together Sid’s in-depth knowledge of branding with techniques from psychology, neuroscience, education and sociology, the Meee Programme encourages everyone to recognise and believe in their abilities.

In March 2015, Sid was invited to Number 10 Downing Street to present the Meee Programme to Lord Young, who endorsed it as ‘a great initiative’. He’s now working with Job Centres, rehabilitation centres and educational establishments across the UK. To help reach his goal of taking Meee worldwide, Sid is currently looking for funding to build a digital resource support centre.

HAZEL MANUEL – AUTHOR

Hazel Manuel is a UK born novelist who now lives and writes in Paris.  Her writing follows a career in education, first as a teacher/lecturer and after as a business leader within the education sector.  Several trips to India, particularly to the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in Kerala have inspired Hazel’s novels.   Zestfest is pleased to be hosting the first UK launch of Hazel’s latest novel ‘The Geranium Woman’, having had major launches in India and in Paris earlier this year.  Set in Paris and Mumbai, ‘The Geranium Woman’ is a rare and timely glimpse into boardroom politics as seen through female eyes.  Things get interesting when a chance meeting with a mysterious Indian ‘fixer’ introduces the main character – a female company CEO – to the concept of Karma Yoga.

Hazel will also be reading from her first novel ‘Kanyakumari’,  which was written during three separate trips to India. It is an unusual and potent tale of friendship, danger and loss as three women find themselves alone in India, each facing some of her deepest fears and challenges. ‘Kanyakumari’ won the Cinnamon Press First Novel award in 2013 and was nominated for Wales Book of the Year in 2015.

Hazel will be sharing some of her insights with us at a workshop entitled ‘Channelling Saraswati: Creative Writing for Yogis’ which will explore how writing can deepen our yoga practice.

Our bubble story began many moons ago, and ever since we’ve been researching and tweaking our magic mix.  It’s the touch of Welsh Mountain Dragon Juice that makes it so special.

Since Day One, we’ve followed sound environmental ethics and done our bit to change the world through bubbles not bombs. Along the way, we’ve won some awards and grabbed some top-notch headlines.

The bubble crew will be with us through out the festival offering taster sessions to blow your own gigantic bubbles and bubble displays.

MANDY COATES – WILLOW WORKER

Mandy is an expert basket maker who weaves traditional and contemporary willow baskets. She grows the different coloured willows she uses in her baskets.

She began her craft after meeting a basket maker at a festival 28 years ago. The simplicity of the tools and the fact that she could gather her materials from the countryside around her appealed to her.

Mandy will display a selection of her baskets and a photographic record of her past projects. She will also be holding taster workshops to make simple corn dollys, fairy wands and head garlands.
